We, the undersigned voters in the State of*
hereby demand that our Legislature pass the laws needed to change the manner in which candidates for Congress are selected. The goal in making these changes is to remove the influence outside funding sources now have over our congressional representatives. This will allow the United States Congress to again function as the independent, deliberative and unencumbered decision making body it once was; our State, its citizens, this country and our planet, need this type of decision making body today more than at any time in America’s history. This demand is well within our rights as stated in the United States Constitution: Article I, Section 4, The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof.

The FixYourCongress Movement is designed to remove the influence of money from the selection process of candidates for Congress. In 2008, the average cost of a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives was about $1.1 million and a seat in the U.S. Senate cost nearly $6.5 million.¹ The FixYourCongress Movement will work for three important reasons:

We do not have to change the Constitution
We do not need the help or participation of Congress
We can do this One State at a Time
